Ben Frost - Aurora
Album cover redesign
As a fan of Aurora, I had my own thoughts about the album cover design. In redesigning it, I made sure to maintain several key characteristics from the original design: a connection to space, an ambient feel, and a sense of curiosity. I found the original design to be noisy and it fails to present the album title clearly.
I wanted to maintain the imperfect quality from the original so I used a photo I shot myself on film for the wave-like pattern in the background. The original image already had a scratch from mishandling the film which I chose to keep in the final product to stay true to the retro sci-fi vibes.
In contrast to the original vinyl release of Aurora which had a yellow vinyl, I chose white for my redesign as an homage to the moon. In line with this, the picture of the astronaut was taken from the Project Apollo Archive.
